In line with continuing brand changes and Immunisation Handbook and ATAGI guidelines, we have made some updates to our COVID-19 booking categories.

VaxApp have updated and simplified the COVID-19 Booking Categories.

These will now display as follows:

The relevant vaccine brands will sit under these booking categories.
The vaccines specific to each category will prefill in the Immuniser flow.

The Paediatric COVID-19 category will be displayed on eligible profiles from the age of 6 months up to the day a profile turns 12 years of age.
If you are not offering the paediatric category to anyone under 5 years of age you will need to add a minimum age of 5 years to this category.

Pre-fill of vaccine brands in the immuniser flow will be determined by the profile age:

  • If the profile is between 6 months and up to 5 years of age, the vaccine brand/s registered for use in this age cohort will pre-fill only

  • If the profile is between 5 years of age and up to 12 years, the vaccine brand/s registered for use in this age cohort will pre-fill only

  • If the profile age is 12+ years, the vaccine brand/s registered for use in this age cohort will pre-fill only

What do you need to do after the release is live?

After the release, these booking categories will be defaulted to 'off'. This is to ensure providers can turn on and set ages appropriate to their service offering prior to anyone making further COVID bookings.

You will need to go into Booking Categories > COVID-19 tab and toggle 'on' either one or both categories depending on the vaccines you are offering to your patients. It is imperative that you set a minimum age in the Paediatric category if your service does not offer COVID vaccinations to younger children or babies.

COVID-19 Vaccine Brands

The system has been updated again to remove any obsolete COVID-19 vaccines and add the latest brands. In keeping with AIR and Handbook guidelines, the manufacturer name has now been removed from all COVID vaccines. Currently, all COVID vaccines in use in Australia are Pfizer however these will now be entered and stored in inventory under Comirnaty (not Pfizer).

If you wish to advertise which specific variant of COVID-19 vaccine your service will be offering (as this will no longer appear in the booking flow), this would be best placed on your website or through comms at a local level.

Session Setup

When setting up your Sessions we suggest you use the General Session Type.
The General Session type encompasses all categories that you have switched on in your Booking category list including COVID-19 and Influenza.

The COVID-19 and Influenza Session types are best used when wanting to run targeted specific Sessions for these Vaccines.

We suggest scheduling recurring sessions no more than 6 months in advance.
